Matt Helwig Signed by Minnesota Twins; Contract Purchased from Schaumburg Boomers

The Schaumburg Boomers announced that former ²¨É«µ¥Ë« baseball pitcher  (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) had his contract sold to the Minnesota Twins. 

Helwig has appeared in 10 games out of the bullpen for the Boomers and issued just two walks while striking out 17 in 12 innings of work, a K/9 ratio of 12.75 while posting a 2-0 record with 0.75 ERA.

"I'm really happy for Matty," ²¨É«µ¥Ë« Baseball Head Coach  said. "He has worked relentlessly over the last 3 years to get where he is today. He has put up the numbers with the Boomers to earn this opportunity and we are excited to watch him continue his professional career."

During his time at ²¨É«µ¥Ë«, The Mokena, Illinois native went 4-4 on the mound and recorded six saves while recording 73 strikeouts.
